J 147 is a potential neuroprotective and neurotrophic agent that has been shown to improve memory in normal animals and to prevent memory deficits in Alzheimer’s disease mouse models. This is likely due to its ability to increase brain derived neurotrophic factor levels, improve long-term potentiation, preserve synaptic proteins, and reduce markers for oxidative stress and inflammation. Additionally, J 147 has been shown to decrease amyloid plaques and soluble amyloid β levels.
